After work I popped in to the Oakhurst Farmstall, just up the road from home in Main Road, Kenilworth. They have a great selection if fruit and veg at very good prices.
They always have fresh flowers, but today's bunches caught my attention. They were marked, with a big cardboard sign stuck in the bucket, as "Happy Bunches".
I couldn't help but smile and take one!

Blooming Marvelous
After a long and busy day at the office, I was super happy to walk in the front door, and see that the poppies I bought on the weekend have bloomed! What a pretty sight.
It's no secret that I adore flowers in the home- especially Proteas. I bought these from Woolies, don't you just love the deep pink?

Happy yellow
I've only become a fan of yellow quite recently- especially when paired with grey. And while Cape Town is a little on the gloomy side, there's nothing like a bunch if yellow lilies to make you smile!
Hope you've had a relaxing weekend- let's tackle Monday with with a happy heart!

Green fingers
... is something I don't have. The rosemary and thyme on my balcony have all died, and I mean, those are supposed to be the 'hardy' herbs!
So imagine my surprise when my orchid, that I bought 12 months ago, sprouted a new branch and bloomed! I am so chuffed - I didn't feed it, forgot to water it for more than a month, and even now the mandatory 'half-a-cup-once-a-week' is more like 'half-a-cup-when-I-remember-and-don't-get-sidetracked-on-my-way-to-fetch-water'.
OK so it's not quite the Garden of Eden, but it at least it's a step in the right direction for me! Who knows, I might just attempt basil next... ;)

I Love....
It started as a crappy day. No sugar for my coffee. No eggs for my breakfast. I had to had some switch replaced on my car so that my indicators would work, and that set me back quite a tudy sum... But, then I arrived at the office and opened my email. And there it was. The new issue of Adore magazine, ready to inspire me! And what do you think of this gorgeous cover! Funny thing is, I just bought myself some watercolours yesterday and started experimenting with painting in watercolours. I am madly in love with these cushions. I also spotted a similar fabric at Mavromac - it might have been a Pierre Frey? Not sure - will investigate and let you know! Hope you have a bright and lovely Thursday!

Honeysuckle: Not just a pretty flower

Last year it was Turquoise. This year Pantone has announced the colour for 2011 is Honeysuckle. "A Colour for all seasons. Courageous. Confident. Vital. A brave new colour, for a brave new world. Let the bold spirit of honeysuckle infuse you, lift you and carry you through the year. It's a colour for everyday, with nothing 'everyday' about it."
I think the important things to remember when it comes to the colour Honeysuckle, is that it's not just pink. Then they would have said so! There's a slightly red, and sometimes even orange, tint to it.
It was so funny coming across the Pantone site yesterday, as I was sitting in the office with a honeysuckle coloured top! It's a sleeveless top with crochet detail on the neckline, and I picked it up for a song not too long ago! Wonder if the store owner knew it would become so popular? ;)
And then, if you want to add just a hint of this amazing colour to your look - go to Clicks and grab a bottle of Essence nail colour. Again I bought this before knowing the colour trends! They have the perfect shade, at only R40 a pop.
And guess what? It works well with last year's colour, Turquoise!

Blomme
Ek is gek oor blomme.
