Clever.

Maybe it's because I really like chevron patterns at the moment. Or maybe it's because everyone has an ugly ceiling fan like this in their homes.

Wedding detail 2

It's the little things, I believe, that make weddings personal and extra special. We made simple 'confetti cones' (using really pretty gold dotted paper) filled with bright red, pink and yellow rose petals. The end result was just dreamy!

It was my big brother's wedding over the weekend, and it was PERFECT! Although I've always tried not to add wedding things to my blog, this time I have to show you something....
This is the twig centre piece that I blogged about a while ago. Sorry, this is not the greatest pic....

I spent about 2 weeks making the centre piece, adding twigs from the Tokai Forest and bits of bling like pearl-like beads, big fat crystals and other gold coloured beads.

It did give us some cause for swearing on the morning of the wedding to get it in place, but I think it was all worth it!

Because it's the month of love.

And I really, really love my Bokkie.

I'm dying to make some 'heart art' this month. I found these images quite some time ago (sorry - can't remember which wonderful site it's from) and have ever since then been on the look out for really great box frames.

I think this makes the perfect Valentine's gift. Just saying.... ;)

I love this collection of pretty fabrics displayed in embroidery hoops. Notice the way the fabrics are grouped together by colour and fade from blue to green to yellow to red and pinks? Beautiful!

I remember my mom doing cross stitch and using one of these hoops - I thought it was the best invention ever!

Colour me pretty

I love colour charts. I like walking into Builder's Warehouse and staring at the wall of colour charts.

I especially love new colour charts. And Plascon's colour forecast for 2011 is out, and it's made me a very happy person.

Don't know if you remember the Plascon Colour magazine? Well, is had a reincarnation into the new Spaces magazine. This is second issue, and it's filled with inspirational pages, easy decor ideas and loads of colour options.











The 2011 forecast is inspired by Love. Gotta *love* that.

"In this year's palette, the romance of the past, coloured in soft nostalgic pastels, is a grounding element but at the same time we experiment with colours and textures, creating something new and sophisticated. Winter woolies

I'm sure it's because Cape Town had it's first rainy and kinda cold day on Friday, but I am suddenly very inspired to start knitting again! I love sitting under a blanket in winter, knitting away. The unfortunate thing is that I do not have the patience to knit jerseys or complicated tea cosies or anything that takes longer than one or 2 evenings to complete! So, I tend to focus my efforts on scarves. Easy, quick, useful scarves.

I found these wonderful knits on Etsy and just love the reinvention of the scarf! I'll definitely try my hand at these, and if all else fails, there's always the option to buy from these lovely crafters! ;)

The top one is from Phydeaux's shop and the second from Homelab. I'm also totally smitten by their choice of colour! I'm loving all things grey at the moment.

I'm sharing a little secret..

Some time ago I stumbled upon a teeny tiny little shop in Diepriver selling Petersham Ribbons. Ever since I have spent too much money buying these beautiful ribbons, snapping up each and every design and colour (although, I must say I prefer the more classic colours and designs).

These ribbons can turn any piece of plain paper wrapping into a work of art, or at the very least add some character to the gift! I love using these ribbons around old bottlesd, tying up keys on hooks, anything really.

An amazing find

I've stumbled accross Etsy.com. Now for most bloggers this is probably old news, but some things take me a little while... :) I kept on seeing 'found on etsy' and 'visit my etsy shop' on other blogs, and normally admired the photos of objects I saw, but never actualle logged on to etsy.com....until last week.

It's the kind of site I've been dreaming of! Go check it out www.etsy.com. Hopefully I will soon have my own shopfront!

Easy tea light holder

This beautiful tea light (or bigger candle) holder is so simple to make! And just imagine how divine a cluster of these would look!

Step 1: You need any big glass bottle. You can use your old jam or mayo bottles, any size will do. I reckon you'll end up doing a whole lot of different ones!

Step 2: Paint the outside of the bottle with any Polvin type paint, pick a colour. Craft paint will also work, just be sure that the paint is not applied too thick.

Step 3: Now decide on a pattern or design, and scratch it out using the sharp end of a wooden skewer or even a toothpick. Voila!

I think I'll be trying to do this this weekend!
